The ZAGGREGATE project develops scientific and engineering solutions to improve seismic safety and support resilient reconstruction of historic masonry building aggregates in Zagreb. Following the 2020 earthquakes, the project focuses on understanding how neighbouring buildings interact during earthquakes and how retrofit strategies can reduce risk without compromising cultural heritage. By combining field investigations, experimental testing, and advanced numerical modelling, the project aims to deliver validated retrofit concepts, practical engineering tools, and evidence-based guidelines for safer historic urban areas.
